This document describes how to configure and install the RZ26/RZ35-EK disk drive option, the RZ240L-EH disk drive option, and the TLZ06-HG tape drive option in the MicroVAX 3100 platform systems. The TLZ06-HG tape drive option can be installed in both the MicroVAX 3100 and the VAX 4000 (BA42B enclosure) platform systems. Intended Audience This document is intended for Digital Services personnel and customers who have a self-maintenance agreement with Digital Equipment Corporation. Contact your Digital Services representative if you want this option installed in your system. If you attempt to install this option, then you may invalidate the warranty. Organization This addendum contains three chapters and one appendix: « Chapter 1 provides general information and instructions on installing the RZ26/RZ35-EK hard disk drive option. o Chapter 2 provides general information and instructions on installing the RZ241-EH hard disk drive option. » Chapter 3 provides general information and instructions on installing the TLZ06-HG tape drive option. e Appendix A provides a list of related documentation. Continued on next page Overview, Continued Related Documentation See Appendix A for a list of related documentation. Conventions The following conventions are used in this guide: Convention Meaning NOTE Provides general information about the current topic. PN Vi Part number Chapter 1 RZ26/RZ35-EK Disk Drive RZ26/RZ35-EK Disk Drive Option Note NOTE Contact your Digital Services representative if you want the RZ26/RZ35-EK option installed in your system. if you attempt to install this option, then you may invalidate the warranty. Description The RZ26/RZ35 disk drive is a high performance 3 5 inch SCSI device. It has a formatted disk capacity of 1.05 GR:5352M bytes. The RZ26/RZ35 disk drive stores data in fixed length blocks on thin-flm rigid media disks. The storage medium in the disk drive is fixed (not operator removable). Ordering Information In order to install the RZ26/RZ35 disk drive in a MicroVAX 3100 platform system, the Digital Services employee will need to order the disk drive option, order number RZ26/RZ35-EK. Option The RZ26/RZ35-EK opticn contains the RZ26/RZ35-E disk Contents drive, mounting bracket (P/N 74-44226-01}, and the four screws (P/N 12-31734-01). 1-1 RZ26/RZ35 SCSI ID Information Setting the SCSI ID In a MicroVAX 3100 platform system, each SCSI device must have a unique SCSI ID number. When installing the RZ26/RZ35-EK disk drive option, the SCSI ID raust be set to an ID that is not used by any of the other SCSI devices in the system. See Table 2-3 in the KA45 CPU System Maintenance Manual or the KA47 CPU 8System Maintenance Manual for more information. To set the SCSI 1D on the RZ26/RZ35-EK disk drive option, follow these steps: 1. Locace the SCSI ID jumper wires on the disk drive. See Figure 1-1.
