Subprograms and/or Subroutines RIM Loader, Binary Loader LOADING PROCEDURE 3.] Method It the Binary Loader beginning at 7777 is in memory, start loading the Instruction Test 2A,- otherwise, the RIM Loader beginning at 7756 8 and/or the Binary Loader must be loaded into memory. PDP—8 Instruction Test Part 2A, may now be loaded as follows: Set 7777 in the Switch Register. Press LOAD ADDRESS Key. Place Instruction Test Part 2A in the keyboard reader. Press START Key on the Operator's console. Engage the keyboard reader. STARTING PROCEDURE 4.1 Switch Settings Set the Switch Register Keys to 7777 before starting the program. No other Switches are used. MAINDEC—OB—DOT A—D Start Up and/or 4.2 Entry The starting address of the PDP—8 Part 2A Instruction Test is 1200. Set 1200 in the Switch Register and press the LOAD ADDRESS Set the Switch Register Key. Keys to 7777 and press the START Key. 5. OPERATING PROCEDURE 6. ERRORS 6.l Error Halts (None) Errors detected by the program cause the processor to halt and, in addition, there is one visual inspection halt. Each test has its own error halt address. Error Recovery 6 .2 Load memory address register with the address of the next sub test and press the START key to continue to the next test in sequence. Deposit JMP Instructions at the error halt address and normal test exit address to enter a scope mode. Upon completion of the scape mode the original contents of the address must be restored. 7. RESTRICTIONS (Not Applicable) 8. MISCELLANEOUS 8.1 Execution Time 16 seconds 9. DESCRIPTION 9.1 Discussion The PDP-8 Instruction Test Part 2A tests the memory reference instructions, operate instructions, and interrupt mode. MAINDEC—OB-DOiA-D The Processor is tested using patterns necessary to detect and isolate errors to its basic cause and minimum logic card involved. Part 2A under program control will repeat each test 4096 times before exiting to the next test in sequence. If a Failure does occur, the test will stop at a predetermined error halt. The program starts a memory address 1200. .Memory address 1209 is a visual inspection halt. Upon completion of the visual inspection halt, the program has no other non-error halt. The program has one Typeout, ”2A." This typeout shows test completion. Hgflgg cad? The program will loop until an error occurs. The program is assembled in binary format. 9.2 Examples and/or Applications For example, in testing the Link bit, the Following method might be used by the program. Set Link to a one.
