KS10 Maintenance Guide Volume I

Order Number: EK-OKS10-MG-001

This document is a "Company Confidential" maintenance guide for the KS10 system, intended for use by qualified DIGITAL field engineers and KS10-trained technical personnel. Its primary objective is to organize and present information essential for KS10 maintenance activities. The guide is structured into six main sections:

  1. General Information: Provides miscellaneous maintenance data, including telephone numbers, fault analysis steps, module configuration, Unibus pin assignments, EC command breakdown, microword formats, ECC bits, memory address maps, and ASCII codes.
  2. Switches/Jumpers: Details hardware switch positions and jumper connections for various modules like RH11-C, LP20, DUP11, DZ11, and KMC11.
  3. Tables/Maps: Describes process tables and bit maps related to the KS10 mainframe and its peripheral equipment. This includes console maps, TOPS-10/20 process tables, halt status, CPU miscellaneous bit maps, various register bit maps (APR, CST, EBR, HSB, interval timer, PI, PUR, SPT, UBR, memory status), UBA paging RAM, and specific controller bit maps (RH11, TM02/03-TU45, LP20, CD11, DUP11, DZ11, KMC11).
  4. Checks/Adjustments: Outlines check and adjustment procedures for preventive and corrective maintenance, such as Unibus Adapter mini checks and power supply adjustments for KS10 backplane, H7130, and BA11-K.
  5. Diagrams/MULS: Contains power supply layouts and module utilization lists for KS10-based systems and BA11-K backplanes.
  6. Software: Covers standard boot procedures, pre-boot error messages, diagnostic program hierarchies, standard console messages, console commands, and console error messages.

The information within each hardware section is indexed and organized by unit and subsystem (e.g., CPU, memory, disk, tape, and I/O).
