~D~DDmD Software Product Description PRODUCT NAME: MiniMINC/BASIC, Version 1.2 DESCRIPTION: BASIC is a conversational programming language developed at Dartmouth College that uses simple English language-like statements and familiar mathematical notations to perform operations. MiniMINC/BASIC enhances the capability of Dartmouth BASIC with the addition of powerful system graphics and 1/0 commands and statements. MiniMINIiBASIC is a computational laboratory data acquisition and control package for analysis in scientific, engineering, and management applications. It can display graphic data and exchange data and commands with laboratory instruments connected to MiniMI NC serial ASCII ports. MiniMINC/BASIC systems are ready to run and the user is "in BASIC" when the system is turned on. All features of the operating system are accessed from BASIC. They are designed for the novice programmer and are easier to use than features on conventional operating systems. A HELP command providing extensive text is integrated into the systems to aid the user in the use of commands. MiniMINC/BASIC has a variety of features for writing, editing, and running user programs. The screen text editor uses special function keys to make program editing easier. The graphics calls in MiniMINC/BASIC plottwosinglevalued functions on the console CRT with a resolution of 512 poi nts on the X-axis and 190 poi nts on the Yaxis. Other graphics features include automatic scaling, shading, and interpolation. MiniMINC/BASIC also includes statements for control of the three serial ports for interface to EIA standard RS232-C compatible serial ASCII instruments, printers, and plotters supporting speeds up to 2400 baud. The MiniMINC serial ports require the signal Date Terminal Ready (DTR) but do not issue Data Set Ready (DSR). Also, they neither require nor provide Clear to Send (CTS) nor Request to Send (RTS). June 1980 SPD 14.48.1 Statements also control the display of alphanumeric characters on the console CRT. The variety of formats includes reverse video, flashing, boldface, underline, and combinations of these formats. Included with MiniMINC/BASIC is the MINC Applications Package that provides stand-alone applications programs written in BASIC. These programs are useful computational aids that can serve as a basis for user program development. Each program,is selected from a simple menu list. The package is divided into five sections: • Numerical • Statistical • Regression Analysis • Financial • Miscellaneous MINIMUM HARDWARE REQUIRED: MMC11-AK MMC11-AN OPTIONAL HARDWARE: LA34-H, LA35-H, or LA38 (aIlEIA only) is supported as an optional line printer.
