Software Product Description
PRODUCT NAME:

PCS-11, Version 1, Project Control System

DESCRIPTION:
PCS-11 is a project control system that analyzes
critical path or procedure networks and generates a
number of resource, cost, and critical path reports.
PCS-11 executes under an RSX-11M, RSX-11D or
lAS operating system.
PCS-11 can process data for any critical path network developed with an IJ, CPM, or precedence
technique. The fixed format input can be entered on
a variety of media. The system includes a terminaloriented editor for input from a CRT or hard-copy
terminal.
PCS-11 has the following features:
• The time required to perform a work item can be
expressed in seven different time units
• Seven different days can be designated as the
"starting day" of the work week associated with
each work item
• The work week of each work item can consist of
from one to seven days
• Anyone of three distinct "calendars" can be used
for each work item
• The "actual dates" can be specified for each work
item
• One of five types of "scheduled" dates can be
specified for the start and completion of each work
item
• Two "early" and two "late" dates can be computed for each work item
• Two types of duration can be specified for each
work item
• Two types of per cent complete can be specified
for each work item
• Two kinds of "float" can be computed for each
work item
• Three different kinds of codes can be specified
that the system is to associate with each work item
• Three kinds of cost can be specified for each work
item
• An "IJ/CPM" or a "precedence" network can be
accepted for processing

• An IJ/ CPM network is internally converted into a
precedence network for processing purposes
• Three different relationships can be specified between any two work items when using precedence
input
• Loops are detected and identified
A time delay can be specified that becomes an intrinsic part of the relationship between two work
items
• All network calculations are based primarily on
three calculation dates
• The speCification of 240 "milestones" is possible
• Fourteen different types of output reports can be
produced on request:
1. four different kinds of system runs can be specified, and
2. a network can extend over a period of 2911 calendar days, that is, slightly less than eight years
MINIMUM HARDWARE REQUIRED:
Any valid RSX-11 M, RSX-11 D or lAS operating system configuration with:
• at least one RK05-J disk that can be dedicated for
PCS-11 data files
• a 32K word user task partition
OPTIONAL HARDWARE SUPPORTED:
Supports any mass storage, unit record or terminal
device supported by the prerequisite software.
PREREQUISITE SOFTWARE:
One of the following operating systems:
• RSX-11 M, Version 2.0 or later
• RSX-11 D, Version 68 or later
• lAS, Version 1.0 or later
And one of the following language processors:
• FORTRAN IV, Version 1 C or later or
• FORTRAN IV-PLUS, Version 2 or later

This software is furnished under a license for use on
a single CPU and can be copied and modified (with
inclusion of DIGITAL's copyright notice) only for use
on such CPU, except as may otherwise be provided
in writing by DIGITAL.

Source and/or listing options are only available after
a source license agreement is in effect.
The following key (0, E) represents the distribution
media for the product and must be specified at the
end of the "a" number, i.e., aPA20-YD = sources
and binaries on 9-track magnetic tape.
