momoomo Software Product Description PRODUCT NAME: MUX200/RSX-IAS, Version 2, Multiterminal Emulator DESCRIPTION: MUX200/RSX-IAS is a PDP-11 based software package which provides communication with a host Control Data Corporation (CDC) 6000 or CYBER series computer system. Through PDP-11 supported terminals, the user may communicate at command level with a host CDC system. Also, using RSX-IAS supported devices, jobs for batch processing may be sent to and results received from the host. MUX200/RSX-IAS communicates with the host using the Mode 4A communications protocol as defined in CDC publication 82128000. The software package can be configured to support either the ASCII, or the external BCD versions of the communications protocol. provides support for one MUX200/RSX-IAS synchronous communications line to a CDC 6000 or CYBER series computer system. The product supports communication over a single switched or nonswitched two-wire or four-wire common carrier facility at speeds up to 4800 bits per second (bps). MUX200/RSX-IAS enables several users to communicate simultaneously with a host CDC system. The maximum number of simultaneous users supported by the MUX200/RSX-IAS System is 16, but may be limited to a lower figure by CDC hardware or software. Features: • Output received from the host CDC system may be spooled to the line printer upon detection of text string pre-defined by the user. • Up to 8 RSX-IAS datasets may be specified for transmission to the host in a single command. • RSX-IAS terminal may be detached for other use while the software package is operating. Data received from the host directed to the terminal is saved for printout until the terminal is re-attached. • User-written tasks can replace the RSX-IAS terminal and control the emulator as if the task were a terminal. • Utilization of the host system can be minimized by taking advantage of the local processing power on the RSX-IAS system, thus reducing host processing and/or line costs. For example, file editing can be performed locally rather than on the host. August 1977 SPD 10.77.2 MINIMUM HARDWARE REQUIRED: Any valid RSX-11 M, RSX-11 D or lAS operating system configuration that meets the following requirements: Main Memory: • At least a 16K word task partition for a single terminal configuration. • At least 2K words for each additional terminal over one and up to the maximum supported for a RSX11 M and RSX-11 D configuration. • At least 2.SK words for each additional terminal over one and up to the maximum supported for an lAS configuration. Communication Devices: • DU11-DA synchronous line interface. • A modem to connect the above interface to the common carrier facility (not supplied by DIGITAL). In some cases where the host CDC is co-located, a DIGITAL H312 null modem may be sufficient. OPTIONAL HARDWARE: Supports any mass storage, unit record or terminal device supported by the prerequisite software. PREREQUISITE SOFTWARE: One of the following operating systems: RSX-11 M, Version 2 or Version 3 or later RSX-11 D, Version 6B or Version 6.2 or later lAS, Version 1.1 or later OPTIONAL SOFTWARE: None TRAINING CREDITS: None SUPPORT CATEGORY: A - Software Support will be provided as listed in the Software Support Categories Addendum to this SPD. CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES: Before installation of the software, the customer must: • Obtain, install and demonstrate operational any modems and other equipment and facilities necessary to interface to DIGITAL's communication equipment. DEC-11-XPDDR-C-D SPD 10.77.2 MUX200/RSX-IAS, Version 2 -2- • Previously have installed all hardware, including terminals to be used on the system. • Make available to DIGITAL personnel all hardware, including communication facilities and terminals that are to be used during installation for a reasonable period of time as mutually agreed upon by DIGITAL and the customer until acceptance criteria are satisfied. • Provide written assurance that the host CDC computer system software and communication hardware support the mode 4A protocol as defined in CDC Publication No. 82128000. During installation of the software, the customer must: • Provide access privileges and machine time on the CDC CYBER or 6000 Series computer system interface. • Provide appropriate documentation specifications for the CDC communication hardware and software and access to CDC operators and programming staff necessary for in'stallation of the emulator software. During on-site Remedial Support, the customer ~ust provide the standard hardware, software, communIcation facilities and terminals necessary for the efficient diagnosis debugging of the reported problem. UPDATE POLICY: Software Updates, if any, released by DIGITAL during the one (1) year period following installation, will be provided to the customer without additional charge. After the first year, updates, if any, will be made available according to then prevailing DIGITAL policies. ORDERING INFORMATION: This software is furnished under a license for use on a single CPU and can be copied and modified (with inclusion of DIGITAL's copyright notice) only for use on such CPU, except as may otherwise be provided in writing by DIGITAL. Standard options with no support services are only available after the purchase of one supported license.
