Software Product Description
PRODUCT NAME: DECsystem-10 2780/3780 ET, Version 3.0
DESCRIPTION:
The DECsystem-10 2780/3780 ET emulates and/or
terminates Model 76 DATA 100 units with the
2780/3780 features described below. Equivalent units
may also be utilized, but it is the customer's responsibility to prove equivalency. The software enables a
DECsystem-10 equipped with a DN20 or DN87 frontend to:
• Submit 2780/3780 remote entry jobs to an IBM
3601370
• Process jobs submitted from 2780/3780 terminals
Emulation Mode

In emulation mode, the DECsystem-10 connects to an
IBM 360 or 370. The DECsystem-10 appears to the IBM
system to be a DATA 100 unit emulating an IBM 2780 or
3780 remote job entry station. The IBM 360 or 370
system must be running one of the following:

OS/MVT HASP II, Version 3.1
OS/MVT ASP, Version 3.1
OS/VS2 (SVS), Version 3.2

A DECsystem-10 usercan submitadiskfilecontaining
IBM JCL and ASCII data to the IBM system as a batch
job. The software translates the data to EBCDIC before
transmitting the job to the IBM system. Any output data
returned to the DECsystem-10 is translated to ASCII
and printed. In emulation mode the software does not
handle special forms.
When connected to an OS/VS2 (SVS) HASP II, Version
4.0 or an OS/VS2 (MVS) JES2 system, this product
allows the DECsystem-1 0 user to route output from the
IBM system to a given disk area on the DECsystem-1 O.
Termination Mode

In termination mode, the DECsystem-10 connects to a
Model 76 DATA 100 running either 2780 or 3780 software as mentioned above or equivalent units. The
2780/3780 remote station user submits a DECsystem10 batch control file from the remote station's card
reader. Any job output is returned to the remote station
for printing only on its printer.
The 2780/3780 emulator and terminator supports a
maximum aggregate termination rate of 40K baud up
to 6 synchronous communication lines. The lines can
range in speed from 2.4K baud to a maximum of 40K
baud. The lines can interface to:

Bell System 201 C modems at 2.4K baud
Bell System 20BA or 20BB modems at 4.BK baud
Bell System 209A modems at 9.6K baud
ICC COMLINK II modems at 19.2K baud
Bell System 303 modems for speeds in excess of
19.2~ baud

Equivalent modems can also be used, however it is the
customer's responsibility to prove equivalency.
MINIMUM HARDWARE REQUIRED:
Any valid TOPS-10, Version 6.03A, Version 7.00 or
TOPS-10 LlR for DECsystem-1091S configuration
with:
• Single KL 10-or Kl10-based DECsystem-10, Version
6.03A, dual KL 10-based DEC.system-10, Version
7.00 or KL 10-based DECsystem-1091S, Version
7.01
• DN20 or DN87 front-end with at least one synchronous line interface respectively
OPTIONAL HARDWARE:
Up to six synchronous line interfaces per DN20 or
DN87
PREREQUISITE SOFTWARE:
TOPS-10 Operating System, Version 6.03A or
Version 7.00.
TOPS-10 LlR for DECsystem-1091S, Version 7.01

installed software products, except for operating systems, are subject to an add-on installation fee when
purchased subsequent to system installation.

ORDERING INFORMATION:
All binary licensed software, including any subsequent
updates, is furnished under the licensing provisions of
DIGITAL's Standard Terms and Conditions of Sale,
which provide in part that the software and any part
thereof may be used on only the single CPU on which
the software is first installed, and may be copied, in
whole or in part (with the proper inclusion of the
DIGITAL copyright notice and any DIGITAL proprietary notices on the software) only for use on such CPU.
All source licensed software is furnished only under
the terms and conditions of a separate Software Program Sources License Agreement between Purchaser
and DIGITAL.
Options with no support services are only available
after the purchase of one supported license.
A single-use license only option is a license to copy the
software previously obtained under license.
No binary is separately available from DIGITAL forthis
software product. Tbe sources and/or listings
option(s) is available for use only on the single CPU on
which it is first installed, and after a source license
agreement is in effect.
The following key (F, M, P, Z) represents the distribution media for the product and must be specified at the
end of the order number, e.g., QH061-XM = sources
on 9-track 1600 BPI Magtape (PE).
F = 7-track Magtape
M = 9-track 1600 BPI Magtape (PE)
P = 9-track 800 BPI Magtape (NRZI)
Z = No hardware dependency
