Software Product Description
PRODUCT NAME: OS/8 FORTRAN IV Plotter, Version 3C,
DESCRIPTION:
The OS/8 FORTRAN IV Plotter is a set of
routines that drive an incremental plotter (Calcomp 563. 565 or equivalent) under control of
OS/8 FORTRAN IV. They can be added to the
system library to enable the user to request any
subset of the available functions and reduct memory usage.
The user can request any of the following capabilities using a CALL statement:
• PLOT Move pen in an up/down position to a
specified coordinate.
• FACTOR Enlarge or reduce all subsequent plotting.
• WHERE Return current pen coordinate and factor.
• SYMBOL Print alphanumeric text or special
character at specified angle and size.
• NUMBER Print a floating point number (e.g .. a
variable) with specified number of digits. angle
and size.
• SCALE Scale a data array (generally in preparation for drawing an axis).
• AXIS Draw an axis with title. labelled tic marks.
at an angle.
• LINE Draw a graph of X data array versus Y
data array. marking each junction with specified
symbol.
• PLOTS Initialize plotting to machine configurationand plotter increment.
The user has complete control over pen state
(up/down). angle of plotting and overall size of
plot during all operations. The plotter package also
permits running of background jobs under OS/8
FORTRAN control when the system includes a
Floating Point Processor.
NOTE: OS/8 is functionally equivalent
to OS/12. the operating system for the
PDP-12.
MINIMUM HARDWARE REQUIRED:
Any valid OS/8 configuration with 12K words of
memory and at least I28K words of mass storage
and an X/V incremental plotter (Calcomp 563, 565
or equivalent)
OPTIONAL HARDWARE SUPPORTED:
Any mass storage, unit record or terminal device
supported by OS/8 with the following additions:
KES-E Extended Arithmetic Element
FPP12-AB, -AN, -AP Floating Point Processor

OS/8 FORTRAN IV. Version 3 or later

if any. will be made available according to then
prevailing DIGITAL policies.
ORDERING INFORMATION:
This software is furnished under a license for use
on a single C PU and can be copied and modified
(with inclusion of DIGITAL's copyright notice)
only for use on such CPU. except as may otherwise be provided in writing by DIGITAL.
Source and/or listing options are only available after the purchase of at least one full-support binary
license and after a source license agreement is in .
effect.
The following key (A. B. C. E. N. R. Y) represents
the distribution media for the product and must be
specified at the end of the '"Q" number. i.e ..
