Digital Personal Workstation x86 to Alpha Enclosure Upgrade

This document is a guide for upgrading a DIGITAL Personal Workstation from an x86 system to an Alpha Enclosure. It congratulates the customer on their purchase and directs them to another document (EK-ALMIA-UI) for detailed instructions.

The upgrade process involves seven key steps:

1. Backup Data: Back up all user applications and data, then turn off and unplug the system.
2. Remove Cables: Disconnect all external cables (keyboard, mouse, monitor, etc.).
3. Transfer PCI Options: Remove all PCI options from the old enclosure and reinstall them in the new one.
4. Transfer Disk Drives: Remove all disk drives from the old enclosure and reinstall them in the new one.
5. Connect New System: Install external cables onto the new system.
6. Install OS: Power on the new system and install Windows NT version 4.0 (provided with the upgrade), referencing the EK-ALMIA-UI for instructions.
7. Return Components: Return specific old components (chassis, CPU/riser cards, 32MB SIMM, CD-ROM, floppy drive, and power supply) to DIGITAL in functional working order to receive credit.
