TSAR is a modular FORTRAN IV program designed for Time Series Analysis and Reduction of laboratory data. It operates under the OS/8 Operating System and is intended to assist with acquiring, manipulating, displaying, plotting, and reporting experimental data for scientific and engineering applications. TSAR offers capabilities for data reduction and sophisticated Fourier analysis techniques. Its modular design and FORTRAN IV implementation allow for the addition of custom functions.

TSAR supports three operating modes: interactive, incremental compile, and compile. In interactive mode, commands are executed immediately. In incremental compile mode, commands are stored for later execution (up to 25 commands per procedure, with chaining capability). The program consists of two main routines: TSAR for analysis and TSARINA for procedure management.

Minimum hardware requirements include an OS/8 LAB-8/E or PDP-12 configuration with 16K words of memory. Optional hardware support includes additional memory up to 32K words and floating-point processors like FFP12-AP and FPP12-AE. A disk, such as the RK8E, is recommended for the system device.

Prerequisite software includes either the OS/8 Operating System and OS/8 FORTRAN IV (both on paper tape) or the OS/12 Operating System and OS/12 FORTRAN IV (both on LINCtape).

Optional software support is not available, and no training credits are offered. Software support is categorized as "C" and will be provided as detailed in a specific addendum. No updates are planned for this product.

Ordering information specifies that the software is licensed for single CPU use and can be copied and modified for use on that CPU, provided DIGITAL's copyright notice is included. Distribution media options are LINCtape (A), Paper Tape (B), and DECtape (C). Standard options include single-use licenses with binaries and documentation but no support services, available on paper tape or LINCtape.
