VAX 6000 Platform Service Manual

This document is the VAX 6000 Platform Service Manual (Order Number EK–600EA–MG–001), intended for Digital customer service engineers.

Its primary purpose is to provide detailed instructions for the removal and replacement of Field-Replaceable Units (FRUs) within the H9657-CA/CB/CU cabinet, which is one of the VAX 6000 platforms.

The manual systematically covers:

• System Overview: Physical description, front and rear views, and a list of FRUs.
• Card Cages: Description, removal, replacement, configuration rules, and troubleshooting for the XMI card cage and the optional VAXBI card cage.
• System Control Assembly: Specifications, removal, and replacement procedures for the control panel, XTC power sequencer, filter board, TOY clock battery, and tape drive.
• Power Subsystem: Design, specifications, and removal/replacement of various power modules, including regulators (H7214, H7215, H7242), the H7206-B power and logic unit, H405 AC power controllers, 50 Hz transformers, and the H7236-A battery backup unit.
