VAXstation 3100

This document is an addendum to the VAXstation 3100 Maintenance Guide, providing detailed instructions for installing various hardware options on both Model 30 (VS42A-xx) and Model 40 (VS42S-xx) VAXstation systems.

Primarily aimed at Digital Field Service personnel and self-maintenance customers, the guide outlines step-by-step procedures for installing:

• Mass storage drive plates and associated drives (including RX23 diskette, RZ22/RZ23 disk, TZ30 tape, and RRD40 compact disc drives).
• 8-plane graphics coprocessor modules.
• Memory modules (4 Mbyte, 12 Mbyte, and 16 Mbyte).

Each installation process includes instructions for system shutdown, opening the system box (with static precautions), disconnecting/connecting cables, mounting components, setting necessary jumpers or switches, reinstalling covers, and verifying installation through self-tests.
