Random JMP Test

This document serves as the technical specification and assembly listing for a diagnostic program designed to test the JMP (Jump) instruction on the PDP-8 computer.

Summary:

• Purpose: The program verifies the functionality of the JMP instruction by utilizing a random number generator to select various "FROM" (origin) and "TO" (destination) memory locations across the system.
• Methodology: It employs the interrupt function to confirm that the jump operation completes successfully. If an error occurs, the program triggers a halt and provides detailed error printouts showing the intended versus actual jump addresses.
• Operation: Users can run the program in standard mode or configure it for "scope mode" (continuous looping between specific addresses) using control switch settings. The program is restricted to memory addresses between 0400 and 7600.
• Requirements: The program requires a PDP-8 computer with a Teletype and assumes the successful completion of prior diagnostic tests (08-D01, 08-D02, and 08-D03). It is loaded into memory using the standard Binary Loader.
