HSC65 and HSC95 Controllers Installation Manual

This document is an Installation Manual for HSC65 and HSC95 Controllers, published by Digital Equipment Corporation in October 1993.

The manual provides comprehensive information and procedures for:

1. Installing new HSC65 and HSC95 controllers, covering:

   • General descriptions of the controllers, their modules (e.g., port processor, memory, data channel modules), and their role in a VAXcluster.
   • Site preparation, including environmental considerations, floor space, power, and safety requirements.
   • Unpacking and physical setup, including cabling (CI bus, SDI/STI) and adjusting cabinet components.
   • Setting module switches, particularly on the Port LINK module for node addressing and slot count timing.
   • Configuring console terminals and printers.

2. Upgrading existing HSC controller models (HSC40, HSC60, HSC70, HSC90, and HSC65) to the HSC65 or HSC95 controller level. This includes detailed steps for replacing modules, installing auxiliary power supplies, and updating cabinet parts.

3. Installing optional K.si and SCSI Data Channel Modules, which involves hardware setup, configuration, and cabling for various storage building block (SBB) shelf and SCSI device configurations.
