AlphaServer DS10L Single Bracket Rackmount Installation

This document outlines the step-by-step procedure for installing a Compaq AlphaServer DS10L system into a rack using a single bracket.

Key Steps:

1. Unpack the Rackmount Kit: Verify all components are present, including brackets, U-clips, screws, guide pins, and rackmount ears.
2. Mark and Prepare the Rails:
   • Use the provided template (Figure 6) to mark "base zero" and "hole 2" on both front and rear interior rack rails.
   • "Base zero" is the bottom of the system. For the first system, it's between the first and second hole from the floor. For subsequent systems, it's the top of the system below. Each DS10L requires 1U (1.75 inches) of height.
   • Insert U-clips at each marked rear interior hole.
3. Install the Brackets: Attach the rackmount brackets to the rack rails by inserting front guide pins into the third hole above base zero and rear guide pins into the hole above the U-clip, then secure them with screws at the U-clips.
4. Attach the Rackmount Ears: Align and screw the rackmount ears onto the front edge of the AlphaServer DS10L system.
5. Insert and Secure the System: Place the AlphaServer DS10L system onto the installed brackets and slide it into the cabinet. Secure the system by tightening the captive screws on the rackmount ears into the front rails.
6. Check Power and Secure Cables: Connect the power cord to the designated power distribution unit (PDU) and route all necessary cables.

Important Guidelines & Warnings:

• Access is limited to persons with appropriate technical training and experience due to potential hazards.
• A maximum of eight DS10L systems can be installed per rackmount power distribution unit.
