Installation

Order Number: EK-DEBMP-IN

This document is the Installation manual for the DECswitch 900EE module, published in October 1994.

The DECswitch 900EE is a self-learning IEEE 802.1d Media Access Control (MAC) bridge designed to interconnect up to six 10 Mb/s Ethernet LANs. It is protocol-independent and offers features such as high-speed traffic filtering and forwarding, support for up to 8000 network addresses, flexible filtering capabilities, and spanning tree protocol support.

The module can be deployed either within a DEChub 900 MultiSwitch or as a standalone unit in a DEChub ONE docking station.

The manual provides comprehensive instructions on:

  • Physical Installation and Removal: Step-by-step guidance on seating the module, connecting AUI and 10BaseT cables, and verifying power-up with LED indicators.
  • Module Configuration: Detailed procedures for accessing and using the setup port (via a terminal or PC) to configure various parameters. This includes resetting settings, managing SNMP read/write communities and trap addresses, setting IP addresses for in-band and out-of-band management interfaces, and performing firmware upgrades (Downline Upgrade) via TFTP.
  • Diagnostics: Descriptions of LED states for normal operation and troubleshooting, along with problem-solving steps based on LED indications.
  • Technical Information: Connector pin assignments for 10BaseT and AUI ports, and product specifications including operating environment and physical dimensions.

The document also includes important safety warnings and regulatory compliance notices (FCC, VCCI, CE) relevant to the device.
