Acoustic Noise Declaration for DEC 3000 Model 800/800S/900 AXP

This document is an Acoustic Noise Declaration for the DEC 3000 Model 800/800S/900 AXP series of computers, published in July 1994.

It presents declared acoustic noise values measured in accordance with ISO 9296 and ISO 7779 (and DIN EN 27779 in the German version). The declaration provides:

• Sound Power Level (LWAd, B): Measured in Bels (B).
• Sound Pressure Level (LpAm, dBA): Measured in decibels (A-weighted) at the operator position.

Values are specified for various product configurations (e.g., PE54A-A9, PE50A-A9 + 4xRZ28, RZ26L, RZ28) under both 'Idle' and 'Operating' conditions. For instance, the PE54A-A9 model is declared at 5.2 B and 34 dBA for both idle and operating states, while the PE50A-A9 + 4xRZ28 is slightly higher at 5.4 B and 37 dBA operating. Configurations noted as "no fan" show significantly lower noise levels.

The document also clarifies that 1 Bel (B) is equivalent to 10 dBA, and states that the most current values for specific configurations are available from Digital representatives.
