ThinWire Ethernet Coaxial Cable Connector Installation Card

Order Number: EK-CABLE-IN

This document, "ThinWire Ethernet Coaxial Cable Connector Installation Card," provides a four-part procedure for trained service personnel to install male BNC connectors on ThinWire Ethernet cables.

The procedure includes:

  1. Adjusting the Stripper Tool: Detailed instructions on how to calibrate the cable stripper's blades to ensure they make correct cuts (jacket, braid, and foil) without damaging the internal dielectric or center conductor, using a scrap piece of cable for practice and verification.
  2. Stripping the Cable: Guides the user on preparing the actual ThinWire cable by marking specific lengths, using the adjusted stripper to remove the outer jacket, braid, and a section of the foil, and verifying the precision of these cuts.
  3. Attaching the Male BNC Connector: Steps for installing the connector, including crimping the center contact, slipping the support sleeve and ferrule into place, and crimping the ferrule to secure the connector.
  4. Checking the Completed Cable: Instructions for testing the finished cable assembly using an ohmmeter and a 50-ohm terminator to ensure proper continuity (reading 60 ohms or less) and the absence of short circuits (reading infinite ohms).
