This document, "ThinWire Ethernet Coaxial Cable Connector Installation Card," provides a four-part procedure for trained service personnel to install male BNC connectors on ThinWire Ethernet cables.
The procedure includes:
- Adjusting the Stripper Tool: Detailed instructions on how to calibrate the cable stripper's blades to ensure they make correct cuts (jacket, braid, and foil) without damaging the internal dielectric or center conductor, using a scrap piece of cable for practice and verification.
- Stripping the Cable: Guides the user on preparing the actual ThinWire cable by marking specific lengths, using the adjusted stripper to remove the outer jacket, braid, and a section of the foil, and verifying the precision of these cuts.
- Attaching the Male BNC Connector: Steps for installing the connector, including crimping the center contact, slipping the support sleeve and ferrule into place, and crimping the ferrule to secure the connector.
- Checking the Completed Cable: Instructions for testing the finished cable assembly using an ohmmeter and a 50-ohm terminator to ensure proper continuity (reading 60 ohms or less) and the absence of short circuits (reading infinite ohms).
