This document is the user's manual for Digital Equipment Corporation's (DEC) 861 series of power controllers (models A, B, C, D, E, F).
The 861 Power Controllers are designed to control and distribute power to data processing equipment. Key functionalities include:
Different versions (861-A through -F) are available to support various input power configurations (single-phase, two-phase, or three-phase, with differing voltages). All models are designed for 19-inch rack or cabinet mounting.
The manual details the physical and electrical specifications, installation procedures (including cabling and grounding), and operational aspects. Controls include pilot lamps, a main circuit breaker, and a LOCAL/OFF/REMOTE switch that governs how power is supplied to the switched outlets (either locally, disabled, or controlled remotely via a bus system for "Power Request" and "Emergency Shutdown" signals). An overtemperature switch provides automatic shutdown at 160°F. The controllers provide multiple power outlets, typically a mix of switched and unswitched. The products comply with Underwriters Laboratories Specification UL-478.
