It consolidates previously disparate information into a single source, covering the complete lifecycle of VAXstation 2000 and MicroVAX 2000 computers. The guide is divided into two main parts:

• Part I: Installation, Upgrade, and Update Procedures: This section details the process of installing the VMS operating system from either tape cartridges or diskettes, including initial setup, hardware familiarization (tape drives, diskette drives, fixed disks, console terminal), and pre-installation considerations (device names, VAXcluster environments). It also outlines crucial post-installation tasks such as registering software licenses, customizing the system, removing unwanted files, testing the system using the User Environment Test Package (UETP), and backing up the newly installed system disk.
