This document provides installation instructions for the AlphaServer and AlphaStation Keyboard/Mouse/Video Extension Cable Kit (2T-450KM).
The kit, comprising two 2-meter keyboard/mouse cables and one 2-meter video cable, is designed to extend the reach of these peripherals, allowing them to be located outside the system equipment cabinet.
The installation process involves:
- Preparation: Shutting down the operating system and turning off the system's DC power.
- Access: Opening the rear door of the equipment cabinet.
- Connection: Connecting the male ends of the extension cables (keyboard, then mouse, then video) to their respective ports on the AlphaServer/AlphaStation chassis.
- Routing: Routing these extension cables through any installed cable management brackets, securing them with tie wraps, and ensuring enough slack to prevent stress when the chassis is extended.
- External Connection: Routing the cables out through the cabinet's cable egress area and connecting their female ends to the existing keyboard, mouse, and video monitor cables.
- Completion: Closing the cabinet door and restoring power to the system.
