Introduction to the DOS/BATCH Handbook

This document serves as an introduction to the DOS/BATCH Handbook, which is the consolidated external user documentation for the PDP-11 DOS/BATCH Operating System. It describes the Monitor and various system programs, and is designed for use on any of the PDP-11 family of 16-bit processors. The handbook compiles information previously found in separate manuals, making it a comprehensive resource for both new and experienced users of DOS/BATCH. While new users will find all necessary documentation within, a table is provided for experienced users to cross-reference parts of this handbook with corresponding older manual titles and order numbers. Certain highly specialized documentation (e.g., System Manager's Guide, Software Support Manual) remains separate. The document also details the specific documentation and reference conventions used throughout the handbook for clarity.
