StorageWorks AC Power Controller Installation Guide

This document outlines the procedures for removing and installing the DS-BA35X-HE AC power controller in a DIGITAL StorageWorks ultra SCSI RAID enclosure.

Key Information and Cautions:

• The AC power controller is not user-serviceable; a failed unit must be replaced entirely.
• Electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions are mandatory (e.g., wear a wrist strap, use an electrostatic mat, store/ship in an electrostatic bag) to protect the sensitive device.
• Strict model compatibility is emphasized: only the DS-BA35X-HE is specified for use with ultra SCSI RAID enclosures. Refer to the User's Guide for operational details.

To Remove a Power Controller:

1. Turn the power controller OFF (press '0' on the ON/OFF switch).
2. Disconnect the AC power cord.
3. Loosen the two retaining screws.
4. Remove the controller and immediately place it in an electrostatic bag.

To Install a Power Controller:

1. Remove the new controller from its electrostatic bag and verify it's the correct model.
2. Ensure the power controller's ON/OFF switch is set to '0' (OFF).
3. Align the power controller with its designated slot in the enclosure.
4. Push the controller firmly until it is fully seated.
5. Tighten the two retaining screws.
6. Connect the AC power cord to the controller.
7. Turn the power controller ON (press '1' on the ON/OFF switch).
8. Verify the ultra SCSI RAID system operates correctly.
