OpenVMS Glossary

This document is a glossary providing definitions for commonly used terms within the documentation of the OpenVMS operating system. Published in May 1993, it offers explanations for various concepts related to the OpenVMS environment, including its architecture (supporting both VAX and AXP systems), memory management, security features (like access control and auditing), networking protocols (DECnet, X.25), input/output operations, file systems (Files-11 and OpenVMS Record Management Services - RMS), multiprocessing configurations (symmetric and asymmetric), and fault tolerance. The terms are organized alphabetically and cover both hardware and software aspects of the operating system. This manual supersedes the VMS Glossary, Version 5.5, and applies to OpenVMS AXP Version 1.5 and OpenVMS VAX Version 6.0.
