This document outlines the installation process for HP OpenVMS Enterprise Directory Version 5.4, also covering the installation of HP Administrator for Enterprise Directory V2.2.
Key steps and information include:
Pre-installation Checklist:
- Read the "Read Before Installing" document and release notes.
- Verify prerequisite software, including specific OpenVMS versions (Alpha V7.3-2 or later, Industry Standard 64 V8.2 or later for Integrity Servers), and optional components like HP TCP/IP Services, HP SSL, DECnet-Plus, and Java (for Integrity Servers).
- Ensure sufficient disk space and system resources (global pages/sections); the "Base" component is mandatory.
- Gather required information: installation media device, DXD$SERVER account UIC, DXD$SERVER directory disk, and server node name (for clusters).
- A system disk backup is recommended.
Installation Procedure:
- Log in with
SETPRV and execute the VMSINSTAL command: $ @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL DXDA054 device OPTIONS N.
- Select the desired components from the menu; the "Base" component is automatically installed.
- The process involves installing the Directory, printing release notes, and running the Installation Verification Procedure (IVP).
Upgrading/Reinstalling:
- Recustomize any previously modified files (e.g., schema files, DXD$DSASTARTUP.NCL, DXD$DSASTARTUP.COM) and recompile the schema if needed.
- Customized files from previous versions are saved during installation.
Post-installation Tasks:
- Edit
SYSTARTUP_VMS.COM to submit the directory startup procedure: $ SUBMIT SYS$STARTUP:DXD$COMMON_STARTUP.COM.
- Start the Directory.
- Verify the installation by running
SYS$TEST:DXD$IVP.COM.
HP Administrator for Enterprise Directory (GUI):
- Install the "HP Administrator for Enterprise Directory—Windows" and "Utility" components.
- Copy
DIRECTORYADMINISTRATOR.EXE to your PC for management. A later version may be available for download.
Cluster Installation:
- Only one node in a cluster can run the server.
- For clusters with multiple system disks, repeat the installation for each disk, ensuring the same components and server node are specified.
- Register the DXIM command on all cluster nodes using
$ INSTALL SYS$SHARE:DCLTABLES /REPLACE or SYSMAN.
AutoAnswer Support:
- AutoAnswer files are not supported for first-time installations or upgrades from first-time installations.
Troubleshooting:
- Refer to "HP Enterprise Directory — Problem Solving" for details on installation errors and a list of installed files.
