HP DCE for OpenVMS Alpha and OpenVMS I64

This document is the HP DCE for OpenVMS Alpha and OpenVMS I64 Reference Guide, published in January 2005. It provides comprehensive reference information for users of HP Distributed Computing Environment (DCE) Version 3.2 on OpenVMS Alpha (v7.3-2 or higher) and OpenVMS I64 (v8.2) systems. It supersedes previous Compaq DCE guides, notably adding support for OpenVMS I64.

The guide is intended for experienced programmers (developing or porting client/server applications), system managers (managing the distributed environment), and users of distributed applications.

Its content is organized into four main parts:

1. Integrated Login Reference: Covers DCE$UAF, IMPORT, and EXPORT commands, along with related status messages.
2. CDS Subtree Reference: Details commands for managing CDS subtrees.
3. XDS Reference: Provides reference pages for X/Open Directory Services (XDS) and X/Open Object Management (XOM) API functions, including HP-specific additions for asynchronous operations.
4. IDL Reference: Describes additional and enhanced APIs for authenticated Remote Procedure Calls (RPC), new APIs for GFloat/IEEEFloat support, and DCL command interfaces for DCE tools like the IDL compiler and UUID generator utility.
