VMS Software Inc. (VSI) has significantly updated the ACMSDI gateway and TPware client software to address challenges in integrating legacy ACMS (Application Control and Management System) applications on OpenVMS with modern, non-OpenVMS environments.
The key enhancements include:
- Broadened Client Platform Support: Now supports both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows clients, as well as Linux clients.
- Modern Language Bindings: Facilitates integration with applications written in C, Java, Python, C#, PHP, and Lua through SWIG and a new
twiddle tool for interface code generation.
- Enhanced Security: Implements optional SSL/TLS encryption (using OpenSSL, TLS 1.3) for all network traffic between clients and the gateway, addressing previous security limitations.
- Improved Concurrency: Supports multiple simultaneous client connections to the gateway, benefiting multi-threaded applications.
- Streamlined Protocols: Removed outdated DECnet and AppleTalk support, now exclusively using TCP/IP.
- Better Logging: Changed logging to a file-based system with timestamps and client details, improving reliability under heavy load.
- Easier Installation: Provided as an easy-to-install PCSI kit for OpenVMS, MSI for Windows, and tar file for Linux.
These updates provide ACMS customers with greater flexibility, security, and integration options for their critical business applications across diverse enterprise environments.
