This document announces the release of OpenLDAP 2.4.57 for OpenVMS I64 and Alpha, a free, open-source implementation of the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) ported to OpenVMS.
The port includes all functionality from the upstream OpenLDAP 2.4.57 release, such as client and server components, utilities, and sample clients. A key feature is dynamic SSL/TLS support, which requires VSI SSL111 V1.1-1g or later to be installed.
System Requirements:
Installation and Operation:
Installation is performed using the OpenVMS PCSI kit with the PRODUCT INSTALL LDAP command. Post-installation steps include integrating startup/shutdown procedures (e.g., LDAP$DEFINE_LOGICALS.COM, LDAP$STARTUP.COM) into SYSTARTUP_VMS.COM and SYSHUTDWN.COM. Running OpenLDAP requires specific privileges (such as TMPMBX, NETMBX, BYPASS, SYSPRV, and DETACH) and careful monitoring and adjustment of system quotas.
Known Issues: A potential issue exists with IPv6 functionality on OpenVMS in some environments, which is expected to be resolved in future releases.
