VAX 10000 Advanced Troubleshooting

This document is an Advanced Troubleshooting manual for the VAX 10000 computer system, primarily intended for Digital customer service engineers and self-maintenance customers.

It provides comprehensive information and procedures for diagnosing and resolving system issues, covering:

1. Troubleshooting During Power-Up: Detailed guidance on diagnosing issues related to the power system components (AC input box, power regulators, Cabinet Control Logic module, control panel, blower, and XMI plug-in units), often with flowcharts to guide the process.
2. System Self-Test: How to interpret self-test results displayed on the console terminal and from various module status LEDs (processor, IOP, DWLMA, Clock Card), including power-up sequences and common failure scenarios for processors and memory.
3. System Diagnostics: Instructions for using the test command for system-wide or specific device testing, running ROM-Based Diagnostics (RBDs) on XMI devices, and DUP-Based Diagnostics for SI and DSSI devices.
