This document is the "VAX 10000 Pocket Service Guide" (Order Number EK–1000A–PG.001), published in February 1993 by Digital Equipment Corporation.
It is intended for Digital service engineers and provides easy-to-access key information for servicing VAX 10000 systems.
The guide covers the following main areas:
- Registers: Detailed listings and illustrations of major system registers (KA7AA, MS7AA, I/O Port, and DWLMA).
- Addressing: Information on the VAX 10000's block diagram, LSB address space, and XMI/VAXBI addresses.
- Console: An overview of console commands, syntax, environment variables, and device naming conventions, along with usage examples.
- Diagnostics: Examples and procedures for running diagnostic tests on system components, including DUP-based diagnostics and remote XMI adapter diagnostics.
- FRU Locations: Identification of field-replaceable units (FRUs) within the main, expander, XMI plug-in, disk plug-in, and battery cabinets, as well as platform cables.
