KLAD-10 (KL Acceptance & Diagnostics for TOPS-10) is a single disk-pack that contains all currently available TOPS-10 software necessary to run and diagnose a TOPS-10 system. Its specific contents include the complete 7.02 TOPS-10 operating system, various diagnostic tools (like DFXLK-X, DOXLA-N, and a 72-hour reliability test), and other system files.

The primary purpose of the document is to provide users with multiple alternate methods for updating their KLAD-10 packs. This approach aims to offer complete flexibility and prevent problems arising from peculiar system configurations.

The guide details various procedures, including:

• Patching techniques for .A11 files.
• Formatting a KLAD pack stand-alone.
• Saving an existing KLAD pack.
• Creating a 1090 or 1091 KLAD pack through several alternatives:
  1. From field update tapes.
  2. Using the existing monitor on the present KLAD.
  3. Using a bootstrap of the customer's monitor on a bootable magtape (for emergency use only).
  4. As a last resort, going to another site to make a pack.
