This document is a pre-installation guide for the DEC TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS Version 3.3 product (UCX), published in April 1995.

It advises customers to read the information before installation, check their distribution kit against the Bill of Materials, and contact Digital for any missing or damaged items.

Key points include:

• Product Licenses: Two types are offered: a server license which provides all software components, and a client license which excludes Remote Boot Server (BOOTP), BIND Server, NFS Server, and PC-NFS Server. Client licenses can be upgraded to server licenses.
• New Features: Details on new features are found in the Release Notes Version 3.3.

• Installation:

  • From CD: Use @VMSINSTAL UCX033 for VAX or @VMSINSTAL ALPHA_UCX033 for AXP, specifying the disc-drive.
  • From TK50 Cartridge or 9-Track Magnetic Tape (VAX only): Use @VMSINSTAL UCX033 ddcu:, where ddcu indicates the device.
  • In both cases, OPTIONS N is used to prevent the Release Notes from being displayed or printed during installation.

• Documentation: After installation, the Release Notes are located at SYS$HELP:UCX033.RELEASE_NOTES. Complete product documentation is provided on a separate CD (mostly consistent with Version 3.2), and hardcopy documentation can be ordered from a Digital representative.
