HP TCPIP Services for OpenVMS Installation and Configuration

This document is the HP TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS Installation and Configuration manual, Version 5.6, published in July 2006.

It provides detailed instructions for experienced OpenVMS and UNIX system managers on how to install and configure the HP TCP/IP Services product on OpenVMS Alpha and I64 systems (Versions 8.2-1/8.2 and 8.3).

3. Configuration: The most extensive part, detailing the use of the menu-driven TCPIP$CONFIG procedure for IPv4:
   • Core Environment: Setting up domain, interfaces (including primary, alias, and failSAFE IP addresses), dynamic routing, BIND resolver, and time zone.
   • Client and Server Components: Configuring various services like FTP, TELNET, NFS, SMTP, SNMP, and others.
   • Optional Components: Setting up features like Kerberos support, Anonymous FTP, and failSAFE IP.
   • Automatic Configuration: Using DHCP client for automated setup.
   • Management: Starting, stopping, and verifying TCP/IP services.
4. IPv6 Configuration: A dedicated chapter on configuring systems as IPv6 hosts or routers using the TCPIP$IP6_SETUP.COM procedure, including details on 6to4 interfaces, IPv6-over-IPv4/IPv6 tunnels, manual routes, and failSAFE IP IPv6 addresses.

The document also includes an appendix with sample installation and configuration procedures. It emphasizes reading the release notes for any last-minute changes and assumes the user has working knowledge of OpenVMS system management and TCP/IP networking.
