This document is the HP OpenVMS System Management Utilities Reference Manual: A–L, published in July 2006 (Order Number: BA555-90003).
It provides reference information for System Management utilities used with OpenVMS Alpha and I64 operating systems, superseding Version 8.2. The manual covers utilities alphabetically from A to L, including:
- Access Control List Editor (ACL editor): For creating and managing Access Control Lists on various object classes (e.g., files, devices, queues).
- Accounting Utility (ACCOUNTING): For generating reports on system resource usage, with options to filter, sort, and format output.
- Analyze/Disk_Structure Utility: For checking disks for inconsistencies, repairing errors, and examining shadow sets.
- Audit Analysis Utility (ANALYZE/AUDIT): For producing reports from security audit log files to identify security-related events.

- AUTOGEN Command Procedure: For automatically setting system parameter values and sizing system page, swap, and dump files, also incorporating feedback from the running system.
- Backup Utility (BACKUP): For creating copies of files, directories, and disks to prevent data loss, supporting various operations like save, restore, copy, compare, and list.
- COPY/RECORDABLE_MEDIA (CDDVD) Utility: For creating Compact Disk (CD) and Digital Versatile Disk (DVD) media on OpenVMS.
- Crash Log Utility Extractor (CLUE) (VAX Only): Used on VAX systems to display contents of crash history files.
- Error Log Viewer Utility (ELV): For examining error log files in a user-readable format, converting, dumping, and translating event data.
- InfoServer Utility (Alpha and I64 Only): For creating and managing virtual disk services on a local area network.
- Install Utility: For creating and managing known file entries to improve the performance of executable and shareable images.
- LAN Control Program (LANCP) Utility: For configuring and controlling LAN software and hardware.
- LAT Control Program (LATCP) Utility: For configuring and controlling LAT software on OpenVMS systems.
- Log Manager Control Program (LMCP) Utility: For creating and managing transaction logs used by DECdtm services.
