PDP-X Software Schedule

This document, a PDP-X Technical Memorandum dated September 20, 1967, presents a 22-month schedule for systems software tasks for the PDP-X computer, authored by W. Segal. The schedule outlines various projects from September 1967 to May 1969, including assemblers, compilers, operating system components (I/O, math libraries, floating point packages), loaders, debuggers (DDT/ODT), an editor, utilities (PIP, library update), a system builder, JOSS, an emulator, monitors (single-user, real-time/batch), and technical writing.

The allocation of manpower for these projects is noted as flexible, depending on programmer availability, task redefinition, and hardware availability. The document clarifies that software designated for "Model I" and "Model II" refers to models described in "PDP-X Technical Memorandum #13," and will maintain upward compatibility at the source level. For instance, Model I FORTRAN will be a subset of Model II FORTRAN, and Model I source files will directly compile using the Model II FORTRAN. Project specifications are to be distributed at the commencement of each task.
