This document is the Compaq TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS Installation and Configuration manual (Version 5.3), published in April 2002.
Purpose: It provides comprehensive instructions for installing and configuring the Compaq TCP/IP Services product on OpenVMS Alpha (Versions 7.2-2, 7.3) and OpenVMS VAX (Versions 7.2, 7.3) systems. This product is Compaq's implementation of the TCP/IP networking protocol suite and internet services.

- Installation: Guides users through the installation procedure using the POLYCENTER Software Installation utility, applicable for both initial installations and upgrades. It also covers post-installation steps like rebooting the system.

TCPIP$CONFIG procedure. This includes:
- Core Environment: Configuring domain, interfaces, dynamic routing, BIND resolver, and time zone.
- Client & Server Environments: Setting up various client and server components (e.g., FTP, TELNET, DHCP, SNMP).
- Optional Components: Configuring features like Kerberos authentication and the PATHWORKS driver.
- Management: Instructions for making configuration changes take effect, starting and stopping TCP/IP Services (globally or individually, manually or automatically), and verifying the configuration using an Installation Verification Procedure (IVP) and SNMP tests.
- Additional Tasks: Covers other configuration needs, such as populating databases, setting up user accounts, defining print queues, and specifying TCP/IP Services as the transport for DECwindows applications.
