Digital Semiconductor AlphaPC 164 Motherboard Design Kit Read Me First

The kit is designed to assist in the evaluation and development of the AlphaPC 164 motherboard, which incorporates the Digital Semiconductor 21164 microprocessor and 21172 core logic chipset.

The document outlines the contents of the design kit, which primarily include:

1. Software and Firmware: An Evaluation Board Software Developer's Kit and Firmware Update (on CD-ROM).
2. Hardware Design Database: A comprehensive set of files distributed across five 3.5-inch diskettes. These files include:
   • Complete Viewlogic design database (schematics, symbols, JEDEC files).
   • Board fabrication data (Gerber files, drill files, solder stencil files).
   • Parts lists and wire lists.
   • PostScript files for A-size and B-size schematics.
   • DXF files for various components.
   • Documentation for a 5-Volt to 2.5-Volt DC-to-DC converter.
   • A readme.txt and unzip.exe utility on each diskette for unpacking files.
3. Extensive Documentation: A list of various accompanying manuals, product briefs, technical reference manuals, and data sheets for the motherboard, microprocessor, and chipset.

Users are advised that a Viewlogic Powerview 5.1 (or later) license is required to access the design database files.
