The DEC 6303 and 6304 are "one-shot" delay modules (monostable multivibrators) designed to produce a negative level output for an adjustable period when triggered by a 40 nanosecond negative input pulse. At the end of this delay, the level returns to ground, and a 40 nanosecond negative pulse is simultaneously generated at the pulse output.
Key differences and features:
Common specifications for both modules include a circuit recovery time of about 10% of the maximum delay, a maximum input frequency of 6.5 MHz, and an input-to-output delay of approximately 30 nanoseconds. Delay stability is high, with only a 1% change for a 20% power supply voltage variation and less than 0.3% jitter. For external capacitors, 1 nanofarad should be provided for every 3 microseconds of desired maximum delay.
The level output can drive various loads, including 6 to 14 units of Base Load or 1 unit of DC Emitter Load. The pulse output, a 40ns negative pulse, can drive 8 units of Pulse Load. Power requirements vary slightly between the two models. The 6303 costs $262.00 and the 6304 costs $117.00.
