RP07 Diagnostic Pathfinder

Order Number: 29035711-00

This document serves as a comprehensive diagnostic and troubleshooting guide for the RP07 system, designed to assist Field Engineers (FEs) in identifying and resolving malfunctions. It complements the RP07's built-in microdiagnostics and other technical manuals.

The guide is structured into three levels:

  • Level I provides initial fault verification routines, an Error Code Guide Matrix to identify probable failing Field Replaceable Units (FRUs), and directs the FE to more specific diagnostic tests.
  • Level II offers detailed, step-by-step instructions to isolate faults to a specific FRU. These procedures often include techniques that don't require external test equipment, or provide precise measurement points, waveform illustrations, and test setup configurations when instrumentation is necessary.
  • Level III addresses complex or infrequent issues not resolved by Level II. It supplies in-depth information, including explanations of test techniques, references to microcode listings, lists of most probable causes, and cross-references to circuit descriptions and logic diagrams to aid in resolution.

The document emphasizes starting with the "Power On Start" routine and systematically following procedures, recording observations, and using the provided error code matrices to navigate specific diagnostic tests. It covers a wide range of tests including power supply, data bus, CPU/PROM/RAM, timer, airflow, functional seek, guard band, and EMA (Electro-Magnetic Actuator) current calibration. FEs are encouraged to integrate information from all levels for effective troubleshooting and to explore other resources if a fault remains elusive.
