This document is the DECUS Program Library Catalog from June 1968, published by the Digital Equipment Computer Users Society (DECUS).
Its primary purpose is to list and describe software programs available for various Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) computers, specifically the PDP-1, PDP-4, PDP-5, PDP-6, PDP-7, PDP-8 (and its variants -8/S, -8/I), PDP-9, PDP-10, LINC, and LINC-8.
The catalog is divided into four main sections:
- Part I: Category Index - Provides a classified listing of programs by type (e.g., Executive Routines, Editors, Debuggers, Arithmetic Routines, Displays, Scientific & Engineering Applications, Games, Maintenance, Miscellaneous), grouped by computer model.
- Part II: Programs Available From Authors - Lists user-contributed programs that may be less formally documented or debugged, available directly from their authors. Examples include a Morse Code Sender, a Wire List Package, and various LINC-specific diagnostic and sampling programs.
- Part III: Programs For Sale or Lease - Features commercially offered software from corporations like Information Control Systems, Inc., AGRIPPA-ORD Corporation, and Applied Data Research, Inc. These include extended FORTRAN compilers, advanced assemblers (ALICS II, PLAP, MACR08X), and comprehensive math/graphics libraries.
- Part IV: Abstracts of Programs and Numerical Indexes - This is the core of the catalog, providing detailed descriptions for each program, organized numerically by PDP/LINC computer model.
The document also includes instructions for DECUS members on how to submit programs to the library and how to obtain existing ones, noting that new additions are announced in "DECUSCOPE." The programs cover a broad spectrum of functionalities, from fundamental system utilities and arithmetic routines to specialized scientific applications, hardware control, and demonstration games.
