The VL82C106 PC/AT Combo I/O Chip from VLSI Technology is a highly integrated single-chip solution designed to replace multiple common peripheral components in PC/AT-compatible computers. Packaged in a 128-pin plastic quad flatpack, it aims to enable the design of cost-effective, low-chip-count motherboards.

• Two 16C450-compatible UARTs for serial communication (COM1, COM2).
• A bidirectional parallel printer port (LPT1) with PS/2 software compatibility and direct Centronics-type parallel interface drive.
• A PC/AT- or PS/2-compatible keyboard and mouse controller.
• A 146818A-compatible Real Time Clock (RTC), featuring additional standby RAM and ultra-low (5 µA) standby current.
