This document describes PATHWORKS for DOS (InfoServer), Version 1.0, a software product that enables DOS personal computers to access applications and data stored on industry-standard CD-ROMs (ISO 9660, High Sierra format) through a Digital InfoServer 100 on an Ethernet network.
Key Functions and Features:
- It is a layered software installed on PATHWORKS for DOS Version 4.0 clients.
- Provides transparent access to CD-ROM drives attached to the InfoServer 100, making them appear as local drives to the DOS client.
- Eliminates the need for a dedicated CD-ROM reader for each client.
- Supports access to multiple CD-ROMs (up to seven) and can also offer virtual disk services from the InfoServer 100's hard drives.
- The InfoServer 100 is an Ethernet-based, high-performance virtual disk server capable of supporting up to 100 simultaneous users.
- Includes utility programs for configuring DOS clients to connect to these virtual disks.
Prerequisites:
- Requires PATHWORKS for DOS (SPD 55.07.xx) client software.
- Requires the Digital InfoServer 100 (SPD 33.20.xx) hardware (specific models with integral CD drives).
Limitations:
- Can only be used with the Digital InfoServer 100 product via Ethernet.
- Cannot coexist with TCP/IP as the network transport.
