Order Number: AE-PESXC-TH

This document describes PATHWORKS for DOS (TCP/IP), Version 1.1A, a software product designed to integrate DOS personal computers into a larger organizational information system.

Built upon Digital Equipment Corporation's Personal Computing Systems Architecture (PCSA), this software enables DOS clients to utilize TCP/IP for networking, allowing them to connect to various Digital PATHWORKS servers (for VMS, ULTRIX, and OS/2).

Key features and functionalities provided to the DOS client include:

  • Core Services: Transparent access to remote file, print, and mail services, date and time synchronization, and inter-PC broadcast/receive messaging.
  • Networking: Provides TCP/IP networking software and management utilities, supporting connections over Ethernet or Token Ring LANs, and wide-area network access via FTP and TELNET.
  • Compatibility: Offers support for Microsoft LAN Manager V2.0, Microsoft Windows V3.0/3.00A, and PC DECwindows Motif environments.
  • Utilities: Includes terminal emulators for host access, memory saving techniques, installation and configuration tools, and a BSD V4.3 compatible socket library for application development.

A PATHWORKS for DOS client license is a prerequisite for using this software. Version 1.1A is an update with bug fixes and added Token Ring support.
