DECnet-RT, Version 1.0, is a software product that enables RT-11 systems to participate as Phase II DECnet nodes in point-to-point computer networks.

Key Features:

• Task-to-Task Communication: Allows RT-11 user programs (MACRO-11, FORTRAN) to exchange messages with programs on adjacent Phase II DECnet nodes.
• Network File Transfer: Provides utilities to transfer sequential ASCII files (and compatible formats) between Phase II DECnet nodes in both directions. It allows submitting system/batch files to remote nodes, but not from other systems to DECnet-RT.
• Network Resource Access: Supports explicit subroutine calls for file operations (READ, WRITE, OPEN, CLOSE, DELETE) on sequential files residing on remote DECnet systems, and allows other nodes to access files on the RT-11 node.
• Network Information Program (NIP): Utility to set node name/password and display communication line statistics.
• Terminal Communication Utility (TLK): Enables users to send messages and engage in dialogue with adjacent DECnet nodes.
• Communications: Utilizes DIGITAL Data Communications Message Protocol (DDCMP) for full or half-duplex point-to-point transmission over serial synchronous or asynchronous lines, providing error detection/correction. Only one communication line is supported per RT-11 node.

Operational Details & Requirements:

• Implemented as a driver under the RT-11 FB/XM operating system (Version 3.0 required).
• Requires a minimum of 8K words (16K bytes) of additional memory for the DECnet-RT software and data storage.
• Compatible with PDP-11/03 through PDP-11/70 central processors and various communication devices (e.g., DU11-DA, DUP11, DMC11, DL11, DUV11, DLV11-E). Performance depends on CPU power, line characteristics, and network traffic.
• Warranted for use only with other Phase II DECnet products.

Support & Licensing:

• Support categories range from Category A (including installation, 90-day defect correction, and 1-year updates) to Category C ("as is" basis with services available at charge).
• Licensing is for use on a single CPU.
