This document describes DIGITAL Enterprise Integration Packages, a software solution designed to seamlessly integrate Microsoft Windows NT and DIGITAL OpenVMS environments. The primary goal is to leverage the strengths of both systems—Windows NT's desktop technology and OpenVMS's robust enterprise computing capabilities—in an efficient, cost-effective, and easy-to-manage manner.

The solution comprises two main packages:

1. DIGITAL Enterprise Integration Server for OpenVMS: This server-side package enables OpenVMS systems to fully participate in a distributed Windows NT environment. It offers comprehensive features including:

   • Management Services: Tools for managing user accounts, printers, queues, and performance across both environments from a Windows desktop.
   • Network Transport & Connectivity: Support for multi-protocol networking (TCP/IP, DECnet) for seamless communication.
   • File and Print Services: Capabilities for sharing OpenVMS server files and printers.
   • Internet Services: Tools to transform OpenVMS into a Web server, including freeware and pre-configured Web pages.
   • Application Development Services: Support for creating and deploying multi-tier client/server applications.
   • Presentation Services: Integration of X Windows for rich presentation environments.

2. DIGITAL Enterprise Integration Client for Microsoft Windows: Designed for the Microsoft desktop environment, this client provides rich and easy access to OpenVMS data and resources. Key capabilities include:

   • Network Transport & Connectivity: A dependable multi-protocol infrastructure, including access to X Windows and enhanced terminal emulation.
   • Mail Services: Integration with Microsoft Exchange Client or DIGITAL TeamLinks for Windows, connecting with ALL-IN-1 Office Server systems.

The packages aim to eliminate guesswork and risk in integration by pre-selecting, testing, and bundling industry-leading software components, offering out-of-the-box functionality and cost savings compared to purchasing individual pieces. Additionally, they include evaluation software like ISG Navigator for pre-purchase testing. DIGITAL emphasizes world-class, comprehensive support throughout the software lifecycle. These packages are typically included with OpenVMS AlphaServer Systems but can also be ordered individually.
