Maintenance

This document provides maintenance guidelines and procedures for the PDP-8/E computer. It is divided into two main sections:

• Preparation for Maintenance: This section lists the necessary equipment (such as multimeters and oscilloscopes) and provides a series of short test routines—including TTY receiver/transmitter tests, echo tests, memory transfer, and diagnostic routines—to verify system operation.
• Preventive Maintenance: This section details the importance of ongoing maintenance, record-keeping, and diagnostic testing to ensure equipment reliability. It includes a scheduled maintenance table recommending specific cleaning, lubrication, and inspection tasks to be performed every three months or 500 hours of operation.
