Asys Monitor

This document serves as a technical manual for the ASYS MONITOR, an executive routine designed to control assemblies, compilations, and program loadings within the AIDEX System. The manual details the operational structure of the system, which relies on a centralized SYSTEM TAPE containing the Monitor, loader, editor, various language processors (AMP and AIDEX), utility programs, and a library.

• Operational Control: The Monitor manages the workflow of "jobs," which involve initiating assemblies/compilations, loading relocatable binary outputs, searching the system library, and handling debugging and program editing.
• Command Structure: Users can interact with the Monitor via typewriter or paper tape reader. The document provides a comprehensive command repertoire (such as load, save, punch, and transfer) used to manipulate programs, manage system memory, and define symbols.
• ASYS Editor: A built-in editor provides magnetic tape manipulation capabilities, allowing users to copy, move, write, and read blocks of data between tape units.
