Monopoly

This document serves as the program documentation for a computer-based version of the board game "Monopoly," designed to run on PDP-8, LINC-8, or PDP-12 computers using the PS/8 or OS/8 operating systems and PS/8 FOCAL. Created by C. C. Wilton-Davies in 1973, the software consists of nine individual FOCAL programs that function as subroutines for a master program to simulate the gameplay mechanics of the board game, including property acquisition, rent payments, "Chance" and "Community Chest" cards, and jail protocols.

The documentation details the hardware and software requirements, instructions for loading the program suite via paper tape or DECtape/LINCtape, and a guide for gameplay operations. Key features include support for multiple players (up to 20), an automated banking system, and house/hotel building mechanics. Additionally, the author suggests that the program serves as a useful diagnostic tool, noting that its complex interactions can help identify intermittent hardware faults more effectively than simple mathematical calculations.
