Decuscope

This document is the inaugural issue of Decuscope, the monthly newsletter for the Digital Equipment Computer Users Society (DECUS), published in April 1962. The primary goal of the newsletter is to facilitate the exchange of information, routines, and program documentation among users of the PDP-1 computer.

Key highlights of this issue include:

• DECUS Anniversary: The organization celebrates its first year of operation, reaffirming its commitment to advancing data processing education and establishing program standards.
• Spacewar: A feature article details the development of Spacewar by Stephen R. Russell at MIT, highlighting the game's use of the PDP-1’s real-time and display capabilities.
• Program Library: The establishment of a centralized DECUS Program Library at Digital Equipment Corporation is announced, with Mrs. Beverly Clohset serving as librarian. The issue provides documentation for several utility programs, including debugging and input/output subroutines for DECAL.
• Technical Meetings: Announcements are made regarding an upcoming technical meeting at ITEK in Lexington, Massachusetts, featuring symposia on image processing and display technologies.
• Training: A progress report on the two-week PDP-1 maintenance and familiarization course offered at DEC, which includes lists of recent attendees from NASA, Lawrence Radiation Laboratory, and other organizations.
