The Heap

This document is the February 1985 issue of "The Heap," the newsletter for the Languages and Tools Special Interest Group (LTSIG) of DECUS (Digital Equipment Computer Users' Society).

The issue provides information and handouts from the Anaheim symposium regarding several new Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) product announcements. Key content includes:

• VAX Performance & Coverage Analyzer: An overview of a productivity tool designed to pinpoint execution bottlenecks and provide test coverage analysis.
• VAX DEC/Shell: An introduction to a command language interface for VMS and MicroVMS that mimics the UNIX V7 Bourne Shell.
• VAX Language-Sensitive Editor: Details on a multi-language, multi-window screen editor designed to increase programmer productivity, including its integration with the VAX Multi-language Symbolic Debugger.
• VAX TPU (Text Processing Utility): A tutorial and advanced topics guide on the TPU engine, covering buffers, windows, pattern matching, subprocess management, and the EVE interface.
• VAX Ada: Extensive technical documentation on the VAX Ada compiler, including features, programming environment, debugging facilities, performance, and implementation limits.
• LTSIG Wishlist: A compilation of requests from users for new tools and features from DEC, as well as requests for the SIG to conduct further tutorials and activities.
